My name is Anthony, but most call me “AJ”. I grew up playing many sports such as baseball, football, track, cross country, as well as basketball which was my main one. I am a 12 years US Air Force veteran with nothing less than 100% on every Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) throughout the duration of my career. While serving, I had the opportunity to travel all over the world, averaging 150-180 days a year all over the globe. Maintaining my top physical shape was a test of how well I could hold myself accountable with a variety of training styles based on what resources I had available on site.
This is where the mindset played a major factor, because I had to honor my commitment to my fitness lifestyle rather than convince myself that the conditions weren’t ideal to train and stay on track.
In 2015, my 2 business partners and I began a fitness company called Vero Mastodon. “Vero” is italian for true and “Mastodon” symbolizes strength and power. Thus meaning “true strength” and “true power”, also short for “true to thyself”. Not every day will be your best day, but regardless, show up and give it all that you’ve got. True strength is showing up even when the odds are against you, even when you feel defeated, even when it’s hard, and pushing through the bad conditions.
With a boost of adrenaline, you’re probably wondering
“am I ready to start my journey ?”
(and the truth is, I can’t answer that for you)
Instead, you should be asking yourself
Am I done believing my excuses ?
Am I ready for a positive lifestyle change ?
Am I ready to put my game face on and grind ?
